ABOUT THE PROJECT
Libation & Liberation: The Quilt Project, is a national community-based initiative channeling the cultural legacy of Black American quilt making to honor the lives of loved ones lost to COVID-19.

Join FREE community healing workshops to create a quilt block. Participants will slow down together, mourn in community, and reaffirm our strength through a variety of healing modalities. The day will offer spirit-restoring practices such as artmaking, reiki, song, storytelling, and the pouring of libations.
You are encouraged to bring fabrics once worn by your loved one and record special messages, poems, or prayers in honor of their lives.
These offerings will make up the Libation & Liberation community quilt, highlighting how deeply tied our liberation is to the contributions of our ancestors.
Our quilt will be displayed on June 19th, 2022 in Prospect Park, Brooklyn on the occasion of the 13th Annual Juneteenth NYC Festival.
